I’m Elisabeth Root. Like many of my clients, I’m work in tech. And, I am not waiting to retire to discover my life’s work. I don’t mean my career, I mean the work that gives me energy for the career. For me, that’s coaching.
One thing I’ve noticed after a long career in enterprise tech is that high achievers without connection to their life’s work, and a willingness to act on it, become tech burnouts. I’ve been there myself.
My experience with tech burnout led me to walk from a global role at Google into a sabbatical of healing, creating and coaching. That time away produced a new sense of grounding, two small businesses and the energy to return to tech full time. My clients have come from companies like Nvidia, Databricks, Microsoft and AWS and while they initially came to me for guidance around building strategic cloud alliances, almost all of them moved into something much more existential - to grant themselves permission to dream and plan for their real life’s work, the encore era, without conflict.
